Kia Sonet will compete against the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue. To gain an upper hand over the Brezza, Kia will offer some features that are currently not available on the top-selling model

Following the debut of the Kia Carnival earlier this year, Kia Sonet will be the third launch from the South Korean carmaker in our market. The upcoming SUV is expected to repeat the massive success of the Kia Seltos. With the Sonet, Kia will enter another highly-competitive segment which is crowded by many competent contenders like the Maruti Vitara BrezzaHyundai Venue and Tata Nexon.

Kia Sonet broke covers earlier today. India will be the first market to receive the production-spec Sonet, while it will also become the export hub for several right hand drive markets. While the Kia Seltos is based on the highly-successful Hyundai Creta, Kia Sonet shares aplenty with the Hyundai Venue. For example, both the compact SUVs are built on the same platform. However, the Kia Sonet will feature a strong individual identity with completely new exterior design. Moreover, to create a solid stance for the new SUV, Kia will load the Sonet with a host of fascinating features. The Sonet can offer some unique features which you cannot find on its direct rival, the Maruti Vitara Brezza. IndianAuto has listed out as many as 8 features of the Kia Sonet that you will not find on the Maruti Brezza.

8 Features of Kia Sonet NOT AVAILABLE on Maruti Vitara Brezza

1. Wireless charging

Wireless charging is offered in most of the Hyundai-Kia SUV cars, including the Hyundai Venue, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. So, it is not a surprise that this feature is also offered on the Kia Sonet. Wireless phone charging is surely one of the highlights of the comfort features available on the new car. Unfortunately, the Brezza misses out on this luxury.

2. Electric Sunroof

Even though being the segment-leading vehicle, the Maruti Vitara Brezza still misses out on an electric sunroof. However, Kia will offer a panoramic electric sunroof for the upcoming SUV.

3. Bose Audio System

The audio system is one of the key entertainment features of any car. What Kia offers for the Sonet’s audio system will set it apart from the rest of its class. The SUV will be installed with a sound system from Bose, one of the world-leading audio equipment manufacturers. It will have 7 components, incuding a sub-woofer.

4. Automatic air purifier

Similar to the Kia Seltos, the Kia Sonet also comes with an automatic air purifier. This function can be operated via the infotainment system or the UVO Conncet mobile app. Though this feature will not make any significant improvement for the driving experience, it is still a highly useful feature, especially in the current pandemic situation.

5. Six airbags

Safety features are among the major factors that determine the buyer’s decision. On the base variant, the Kia Sonet offers dual front airbags as standard. On the higher variants, there will be an addition of side and curtain airbags, increasing the total amount of airbags to six. Currently, Maruti Vitara Brezza only gets dual front airbags across the range. With six airbags, the Kia Sonet clearly has an advantage over the Brezza.

6. UVO Internet Connectivity System

At this point, every car manufacturer is putting its best effort into developing and offering better and improved connectivity technology. Hyundai and Kia are the two leading players in this game. While Hyundai is offering the Bluelink system, Kia has developed its own system of smart connectivity called UVO. The car user can remotely control many features of the Kia Sonet by using this system. For instance, one can start the engine or AC remotely from his or her phone or track the vehicle’s location and set a geo-fence area.

7. Diesel engine with automatic transmission

Technically, a diesel engine is not a feature. However, in comparison with the Maruti Brezza, its availability is a major advantage for the Kia Sonet. At the moment, Maruti has basically discontinued all of the diesel variants across its line-up, giving a void to other car manufacturers to fill in. Car buyers with a preference for diesel-powered cars might find the Kia Sonet a better option compared to Maruti Brezza. What's even better is that unlike the Venue, the Sonet will offer an automatic transmission option with the diesel engine. On the other hand, the Maruti Brezza is exclusively powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is available with manual and automatic transmission options.

8. Clutchless Manual iMT transmission

Hyundai, along with Kia, is the first car manufacturer to offer clutchless manual iMT gearbox in India. It means that Kia Sonet will feature manual gear stick without clutch paddle. With this gearbox option, the driver can have the comfort and driveability of an automatic gearbox as well as the excitement offered by a manual transmission.
