Tata Nano was once the cheapest car in the Indian market, and thus, it came with hardly any features to talk of. Well, here's one, which now features an aftermarket sunroof.
Tata Nano is known as the cheapest car of the Indian market to the Indian audience. It was the dream project of Tata Motor’s chairman – Ratan Tata. As he wanted to sell a car for Rs. 1.00 lakh in the Indian market. Well, the carmaker managed to do so and launched the Nano at a starting price of Rs. 1.00 lakh in the year 2008. However, the Nano failed to pull the crowd for some reasons. In the year 2018, Tata Motors pulled the plug on Nano’s production. But, a lot of examples can still be seen on the roads in mint condition. Moreover, some owners have modified their cars to look even better. Here’s one example that we came across via a social media platform, which now features an aftermarket sunroof.
In the above image, the Tata Nano can be seen fitted with an aftermarket sunroof. The Nano, however, was offered with just a handful of features. Therefore, spotting one with a sunroof is quite a sight. Moreover, sunroof is considered an upmarket feature in the Indian market. The carmakers have now started offering it in a lot of affordable cars as well. Also, we advise our readers to avoid installing a sunroof in your vehicle as it invites a lot of issues in the long run.
Talking of the Tata Nano, it was sold with a 2-cylinder, naturally aspirated, 624 cc petrol engine that produced a peak power output of 38 PS and max torque of 51 Nm. The gearbox options included a 4-speed manual initially. However, at a later stage, Tata Motors offered 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT. Also, an option of CNG kit was introduced by the carmaker.
In recent news, Tata Nano has been spotted with an electric powertrain. It is speculated to go on sale as a taxi sometime later in 2021. The test mule also featured an all-electric instrument cluster. It is expected to be powered by a 17.7 kW electric motor, which the carmaker will source from Electra EV. Interestingly, it will come standard with ABS with EBD and dual front airbags in its electrified avatar.
