In today's video, we have got a new Mahindra Thar that gets a 360 degree surround-view camera similar to what you get on cars like MG Hector

The all-new second-generation Mahindra Thar was launched earlier this year and it has met with an overwhelming response. You can’t place a new order till May 2021 with over 30,000 bookings already in place and waiting periods are over 7 months currently. The old Thar was an off-roading icon in the Indian market but was lacking things when it going on-road. The new model aims to resolve that an all-new body, mature and safe dynamics while keeping it firmly rooted in the go-anywhere capability it has been known for. You also get modern and up-to-date creature comforts and features which simply wasn’t possible on the old one.

In the video that has been uploaded by maazBeatz on their YouTube channel, they showcase what they term as the first full 360-degree camera system for the new 2020 Mahindra Thar. The system consists of a  four-camera set, one on the grille, one each on the ORVMs, and the last one is just above the rear number plate holder. It touts to provide a seamless picture and blind spots are eliminated. The cameras can record in 1080p resolution and comes with in-built night vision. You also get round-the-clock monitoring and all the images are transmitted to an LCD screen you can fit on top of the dashboard. This camera system can be invaluable during parking this large vehicle in small spaces  It can also as a secondary pair of eyes when you’re doing some hardcore off-roading that this 4x4 can do and need to get out of a sticky situation.

The all-new Mahindra Thar now comes with 2 engine options, a 2.2 litre turbo-diesel, and a 2.0 litre turbo-petrol. The oil-burner makes 130 PS/300 Nm of peak power and torque figures while the petrol makes 150 PS/300 Nm of max power and torque. You get two transmission options for both the powertrains, A 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed automatic with a low range box. You also get a transfer case and a mechanically locking centre differential to get you out when the going gets really tough.

Prices for the Mahindra Thar range between Rs 9.80 lakh – Rs 13.75 lakh, ex-showroom.
