In the video that has been uploaded by Ridiculously Amazing over on YouTube, we see the owner of this used Toyota Fortune explaining that they wanted to buy a brand-new MG Hector instead. Unfortunately, MG had to stop accepting bookings for the Hector due to the overwhelming response it got last year. The family moved on to explore other options and their first choice was a petrol-automatic SUV, which led to exploring other vehicles like the Tata Harrier, but rejected it as there wasn’t an automatic transmission option available with the Harrier last year.

On the way back to their home, the owner said that while following Google Maps, they ended up using an alternate route due to the heavy traffic and that’s when they spotted the Toyota U-Trust showroom. Toyota’s U-Trust showroom sells certified used cars that go through a thorough inspection. As the family entered the showroom to window-shop the vehicles parked there, they mentioned the Toyota showroom officials about their requirements, prompting them to point the family towards a Toyota Fortuner diesel-automatic.

This particular Toyota Fortuner belonged to Indian cricketing legend Madan Lal. The new owner said that he hasn’t found any issues with the vehicle since he bought it nearly a year back. The vehicle had already done 1.3 lakh kilometres and the current owner piled another 8,000 since buying it. The Fortuner is powered by the D-4D engine, which has a reputation for being one of the most reliable engines in the world. The owner did mention that they didn’t check the service records properly when buying the car and advises other used car buyers to not make the same mistake. Also, he said that fuel-economy figures have dropped a bit compared to newer cars. This particular Fortuner is 6 years old and he purchased it for Rs 15 lakh.

The owner also advised that when buying a car, new or used, should first set their requirements and search accordingly after that. If they’re in the market for a full-size SUV in the Rs 15-20 lakh range, then they should turn to the used car market. But if they want to buy brand-new, then vehicles lie the Kia Seltos, MG hector and Hyundai Creta should be the options.
