Tata Altroz (5-star NCAP) Hit By Truck At High Speed, Suffers Only Minor Damage

The Tata Altroz is one of the safest cars in India; it has achieved a 5-star rating for adult occupants and a 4-star rating for child occupants from Global NCAP. The Altroz is well-known for a good build quality, which is clearly reflected in the recent accident in which the hatchback got hit by a truck which was travelling at a high speed but suffered only minor damage.

At that time, the truck was moving at a speed of about 70 kmph; the Altroz was moving at a speed of approximately 20 kmph. Suddenly, the truck hit the car at the rear. The condition of the truck remain to be unknown since no photos of the truck are available. Above is a photo of the damaged Altroz, which shows that the damage is not as serious as expected.

The bonnet has suffered a huge dent, which might be expensive for the owner to fix. While the taillights appear to remain in good condition, the rear windscreen has cracked. The bumper, despite not being in the image, must have been damaged as well. In many accidents, the impact spread to the rear seats or the car has crumpled up. Nevertheless, in this accident, the damage was just restricted to the boot. Fortunately, no one was sitting in the rear seats when the accident occurred, all the occupants sitting in the front seats were safe and sound.

From the car’s interior, the car can be a base Tata Altroz XE trim which is not equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system or a music system. The vehicle is packed with dual front airbags, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard safety features. The Altroz XE receives its power from a 1.2-litre gasoline burner which can generate 86 PS against 113 Nm and mate4d to a 5-speed MT.
