Take a look this video of a drag race between Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster to understand which one's faster off the line.

Toyota Fortuner is the best-selling car in its segment. The ladder-frame SUV has been recently launched in its facelifted avatar, along with the new Legender trim in the Indian market. The SUV faces heat from competitors like the Ford Endeavour and recently-launched MG Gloster. The latter was launched in the Indian market on October 8, last year. Soon after the launch, MG announced that Gloster is old out for the year 2020. This is quite an appreciating performance of the Gloster on the sales chart. But, how quick is the Gloster off the line in comparison to the Toyota Fortuner? To find out the answer, we came across a video from the YouTube channel of Sanjeet Jaat that packs in the answer.

The video starts with host shedding some light on the specifications of the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. The Fortuner used in this video is the diesel-automatic trim that sources power from a 2.8L 4-cylinder turbocharged oil burner. It is capable of putting out a rated power output of 177 PS and max torque of 420 Nm. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission here. The Gloster, on the other hand, comes with a 2.0L twin-turbo-diesel that puts out 218 PS of peak power and 480 Nm of max torque. It comes standard with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Moving over to the drag race, the host conducts a total of three runs. In the first attempt, Toyota Fortuner pulls away from the start line in a quicker fashion than the Gloster. Also, it bags the win here. The second attempt records similar results as well. In the last and final attempt, Toyota Fortuner manages to win against the MG Gloster. However, we feel that it is the lesser kerb weight of the Toyota Fortuner that helps it with the quicker acceleration.

Transmission options on the Fortuner facelift include a 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT.
