Here's how the Toyota Urban Cruiser (Rebadged Maruti Vitara Brezza) would look like with design inspiration from its elder sibling - Corolla Cross.

Toyota and Maruti affirmed of their JV in the country with the launch of Glanza. It was nothing more than a badge-engineered Maruti Baleno. However, the next product to be spawned from this JV is the Toyota-badged Maruti Vitara Brezza. In the earlier reports, we revealed that it will be called Urban Cruiser. Also, it has been confirmed that Maruti will start supplying the Toyota-badged Vitara Brezza to manufacturer soon. Thus it is expected to be launched by the end of this year.  However, the question that continues to strike everyone’s mind is, “How will the Urban Cruiser look like?” To answer it, our in-house rendering specialist – Shoeb R. Kalania has come up with his digital illustration of the Urban Cruiser’s look.

It can be seen in the rendering above that Urban Cross draws inspiration from the Corolla Cross, which has been recently unveiled to the world. On the front, the Urban Cross in the rendering gets a Corolla Cross like radiator grille. While it gave a grumpy-looking face to the Corolla Cross, it looks better on the Urban Cruiser. It is flanked by sleek headlamps on either side, which also get boomerang-shaped LED DRLs.

On the lower end of the face, the Urban Cruiser in the rendering gets a different bumper in comparison to the Vitara Brezza. It gets sharp creases, indents, and recesses like those seen on the Corolla Cross. Also, it gets a black cladding along with a sleek silver-finished scuff plate. Moving over to the sides, the silhouette remains the same as the Vitara Brezza. The boxy proportions of the donor car are gracefully carried on this the Urban Cruiser in the rendering, at least. However, it features a new design for the dual-tone alloy wheels, which look like 17-inches in diameter.

Under the hood, the Urban Cruiser is expected to come with the same power plant as the Vitara Brezza. The 1.5L 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor is designed to put out a peak power output of 105 PS and max torque of 138 Nm. Also, the transmission options will be carried over from the Vitara Brezza itself, which comprises of 5-speed MT and 4-speed AT. Expect the Urban Cruiser to be offered in the mid and top-spec equivalent trims of the Vitara Brezza. The LXI variant will most likely be struck off the list from Urban Cruiser’s trims options.
