It is confirmed that the Tata Harrier will only get manual diesel powertrain only.

It is only one month away until the launch date of the highly-anticipated Tata Harrier. The closer the due day approaches, the more information about this SUV we get. Among the mass of expectation and prediction, it is hard to tell which one is true and which is not. From the spy pictures, it was suspected that Tata Harrier might come with diesel automatic version. But as it turns out, Tata Harrier is going to be available in the diesel manual transmission only. At its launch, Harrier will come with 6-speed manual gearbox only.

But it doesn’t mean an end for diesel-automatic version. In other words, Tata Motors just delays the debut of the automatic version. Tata understands the huge need for automatic transmission but due to the limited supply and a high demand, the automaker will hold this version until the next move.

Tata Harrier will not get automatic version until the introduction of the seven-seat version

As the BS-VI norms are on the go, and Tata Harrier will come with an automatic version that is compliant with the new norms. This engine-gearbox combination might debut on the event of the seven-seater model launch, but this version will not come at the next-month launch. Instead, we could only get our hands on the manual five-seater version of the Harrier in the upcoming launch.

What’s more, the automatic seven-seater version of the Harrier would come only with the all-wheel-drive system instead of the front wheel drive as in the manual version. On this automatic version, the 2.0 Kryotec diesel engine will be tuned to be able to crank out 170BHP of power. It is more powerful than the 2.0-litre diesel Kryotec engine offed on the diesel manual version.
