Tata Motors has already introduced the entry-level Tata Tiago hatchback with standard safety kits like ABS, EBD and CSC.

As per our earlier reports, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), in 2017, has mandated that all passenger vehicle (M1) and minivan (M2) must be available with anti-lock braking system from April 1, 2018 (for new vehicles) and April 1, 2019 (for currently-existing models). Tata Motors has started offering standard safety fitments like anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and Corner Stability Control (CSC) across all variants of the Tiago ahead of the deadline. Previously, only the Tiago XZ, XZA and XZ+ features these components.

Currently, the Tiago, Hexa, Nexon and Harrier are the models in Tata’s lineup that offer ABS as standard. Also, other safety features such as dual airbags, rear parking camera, speed alert will have to be set to make the cars safer to conform to the new safety rules under the Bharat New Safety Vehicle Assessment Program. Some people suppose that these new features might not be seen as critical supports to the car’s safety, their actual meaning is in total contrast. Statistics have revealed that the insertion of these features on cars could be of help lessening the influential magnitude of the accidents and the number of fatalities.

In fact, the anti-lock braking system functions as the prevention of wheel-locking during the event of emergency braking. While skidding is the main causes to the driver’s acts of losing controls of the vehicles, ABS, by modulating and releasing the braking pressure, improved the vehicle’s efficient brakes to the wheel’s spinning. As the number of fatalities recorded in road accidents the right-hand drive market is 3 to 4 times higher than that of France, Germany or Spain, the introduction of standard safety features across all cars is on the right move to significantly reduce the death rate in car accidents.
