Bid For First Unit Of 2020 Mahindra Thar Reaches Rs 90 Lakh, Auction Ends Tomorrow

Auction for the first unit of Mahindra Thar will come to an end tomorrow, and the highest-bid as of now stands at Rs 90.00 lakh. Read to know more about it.

2020 Mahindra Thar is all-set to go on sale by the end of this week. However, the first unit of new-gen Thar will be sold tomorrow itself as a part of the auction, which Mahindra is conducting to raise funds for charity. The bidding for the first unit of new-gen Thar began on September 24 and will close by tomorrow i.e. September 29. As of now, the current bid stands at Rs. 90.00 lakh. The next bidder will have to make a minimum increment of Rs. 25,000 to own the first unit of Mahindra Thar. The amount that this unit will sell for will go as a donation to a charitable organization that customer selects out of the three available options – Naandi Foundation, PM Cares Fund, and Swades Foundation.

Interestingly, the carmaker will also add an equal amount of funds in the donation. The first unit of the Thar will sport a lot of special decals and badges on the outside and the inside. It will get ‘#1’ decals for the exterior along with the name of the owner. On the inside, the dashboard-mounted VIN plate will also have the serial no. 1. The winning bidder will get the option to choose a colour option of his/her preference from a total of six available options – Napoli Black, Red Rage, Rocky Beige, Aquamarine, Galaxy Grey, and Mystic Cooper.

Mahindra Thar will be offered in a total of 3 variants – AX, AX Optional, and LX. The owner of the first unit will have the leverage to choose any variant he/she wishes to. Also, there will be three roof options on offer. The owners can choose between fixed soft top, fixed hard top, and convertible soft top. Talking of the engine options, there are two of them – 2.0L turbo-petrol and 2.2L turbo-diesel.

The petrol motor with a 4-cylinder configuration will belt out a rated power and torque output of 150 PS and 320 Nm, respectively. The oil burner, on the other hand, will churn out a peak power output of 130 PS and max torque of 300 Nm. The gearbox option on the new-gen Thar includes a 6-speed manual gearbox and Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox. Also, the 4WD layout comes as standard across the range with a low-range transfer case and rear mechanically locking differential.
