2020 Mahindra Thar Bookings To Start Today!

Mahindra will commence the bookings of the new Force Gurkha rival later today. The all-new Mahindra off-roader will be powered by a petrol and diesel engine.     

Last month, Mahindra & Mahindra revealed the new-gen Thar in our market. The all-new off-roader is set to launch in our market on 2nd October 2020. The automaker will also commence the bookings of the SUV on the same day.  Mahindra has recently revealed a new teaser video, which showcases both the hardtop and soft-top version of the car doing some serious amount of off-roading, and it says that the bookings of the SUV will commence on 2nd October. As compared to the previous-gen model, the all-new Mahindra Thar has been completely changed from outside and inside.

It now looks more modern and premium. The upcoming Mahindra SUV will be offered in two different trim levels namely- AX and LX. The entry-level AX trim will be offered with 16-inch steel wheels with soft top and in 6-seat configuration. Moreover, it’ll also feature manual AC and power steering. On the other hand, the top-spec LX trim will come loaded with all the bells and whistles like LED DRLs and fog lamps, eight-way adjustable driver’s seat, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto AC, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and 18-inch alloy wheels. All the trims will be offered with a 4WD drivetrain with 2H, 4H and 4L modes. Upfront, the SUV gets independent suspension, while at the back, the car features mechanical locking differentials.

The all-new Mahindra Thar now also meets new crash and pedestrian safety norms and employs two front airbags. Talking about safety features, it gets ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat mounts, hill-start assist, hill descent assist, ESP with roll-over mitigation and three-point seatbelts for four passengers. Mechanically, it derives power from a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine and a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine. The former develops power and torque outputs of 130hp and 300 Nm, while the latter puts out 150hp and 300 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. The SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 10-15 lakh (ex-showroom).
