2020 Mahindra Thar Coming To Launch This Summer

Mahindra has a range of new-gen models, comprising of the new versions of Thar, Scorpio and XUV500, lined up for an imminent launch

The new-gen Thar will be the next big launch from Mahindra in the Indian market. The all-new off-road SUV will hit the showroom floors in the summer season. One can expect the authorized Mahindra dealerships to start accepting bookings of the SUV in a couple of months from now. The official launch date and booking details are yet to be revealed by the company but what's for sure is that the next-gen Thar will be an all-new model inside and out.

The cabin of the car will come equipped with a more premium interior. The car will feature a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android compatibility. Moreover, the SUV will come loaded with features like ABS with EBD, two airbags, central locking and seat belt reminder. As compared to the ongoing model, the all-new Thar will be bigger in dimensions. Outside, the new-gen model is expected to feature more striking wheel arches, new looking alloy wheels and LED taillamps. The off-roader SUV will also get a new 7-slat grille, conventional round headlights, fender-mounted side blinkers upfront and brick-shaped taillamps like the one in the ongoing model.

The SUV will be available with two different powertrain options. The engine options consist of a BS6 compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine along with an all-new 2.0-litre mStallion petrol mill. The updated diesel mill offers 140 bhp of power and, the petrol unit will produce power and torque outputs of 190 bhp and 380 Nm. Transmission duties will be done by 6-speed gearbox along with a new automatic transmission.

The SUV is powered by two different powertrain options

The carmaker is also planning to launch a petrol model of Marazzo in India in the near future. Currently, the MPV is powered by a 1.5-litre, turbo-diesel engine, which puts out 12 bhp and 300 Nm of twisting force. The motor comes coupled to a 6-speed transmission.
