Buyers can now book the upcoming 2020 Mercedes GLE in India. Mercedes Benz India has recently started accepting bookings for the car ahead of its launch, which is slated to be early next year. We expect the car to be officially unveiled, or maybe even launch, at the 2020 Auto Expo in February next year. Prices will also be revealed during the Auto Expo.

Mercedes GLE was first launched in India back in 2015, and the company enjoyed massive success, with over 13,000 units of the vehicle sold in the country till date. No doubt, the GLE has been one of the most successful Mercedes cars in India. In fact, the outgoing model is completely sold-out in India, which is a testament to its popularity.

“We are excited to see the response to the current GLE, which sold out 3 months ahead of the plan. We have now opened the bookings for the new generation GLE, scheduled to be launched before the Auto Expo 2020. We are confident that the new GLE which will be the most advanced GLE ever, will continue to redefine the luxury SUV space.”

The 2020 Mercedes GLE feature updated interior and exterior design. On the inside, we expect a few key changes like an updated instrument console, an updated infotainment system and touchscreen unit, a new centre console design, and a new multi-function steering wheel. The car will also be longer, with an 80 mm longer wheelbase as well. This will ensure loads of space on the inside, especially for the rear-seat passengers.

The engines on the upcoming car will probably be the same as the ones on the outgoing model, but win BSVI compliant forms. The current generation GLE offers three engine options. First is a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel that produces 260 PS and 620 Nm, second is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel with 206 PS and 500 Nm on tap, and the last one is a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol that churns out 330 PS and 480 Nm. Additionally, there is also an AMG variant of the GLE, which is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine that makes 385 PS and 520 Nm of peak power and peak torque respectively. All the engines are paired to a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, and power is sent to all the four wheels via an AWD system.
