Tesla has recently revealed the updated Model S sedan. The automaker has made several cosmetic and feature updates on the exterior and interior of the EV. The carmaker will commence production of the updated Model S in coming weeks. Outside, it gets a new bumper up front, redesigned rear diffuser, blacked-out door handles and a new set of alloy units. The electric sedan continues to feature a glass roof. The design changes are quite subtle, but these tweaks make the Model S look sportier than before.
Inside, the cabin of the car employs a new steering wheel along with an updated infotainment unit. The official images revealed by the carmaker shows that the 2021 Tesla Model S gets a new rectangular-shaped, aircraft-style steering wheel. The tablet-like touchscreen is now replaced with a new 17-inch touchscreen unit, which offers enough processing power to run latest video games like Witcher 3. It now offers an improved resolution of 2200X1300 pixels. The instrument cluster consists of a 12.3-inch fully-digital unit, and there are no sticks to control the side blinkers and wipers. These functions have been moved to the steering wheel.
Moreover, it also gets an all-new dashboard with a vent-less HAVC system like Model 3. The rear passenger seats get improved support, and there’s also a small display for the second-row passengers as well placed at the centre console, just behind the centre armrest for front passengers. Tesla has used an ample amount of wood in the cabin to give the 2021 Model S a plush feel. The interior design of the new Tesla electric sedan looks very futuristic.
The automaker has also announced two new variants of 2021 Model S, namely- Plaid and Plaid+. The ‘Plaid’ variant replaces the performance trim and is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 2 seconds, which also makes it the fastest accelerating production car in the world. It can achieve a top speed of 250kmph. On the other hand, the ‘Plaid+’ trim offers similar performance, but with a greater driving range of 837km, whereas the Plaid offers a range of 627km in one full charge.
