Ford Ecosport Shows Its Good Build Quality In The Accident With Maruti Dzire

Indian roads are well-known for being unsafe, which has been proven through accident statistics. Overspeeding is one of the most common causes of accidents in the country. In a recent accident case, overspeeding has once again caused a severe accident between a Maruti Dzire and a Ford EcoSport.

The accident happened on the Coimbatore-Salem highway in Tamil Nadu. The six-lane highland is quite empty and has road barriers on both of the two sides. Suddenly, a Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which was running at high speed overtook a slow-moving vehicle on the right side and became completely uncontrolled. Then, the Dzire hit the median strip at such a high speed that it crossed the wide central median and crashed into a Ford EcoSport. Since it happened so suddenly, the EcoSport was not able to avoid the collision in time.

Both of the cars suffered serious damage. We can see in the video that parts of cars were scattered around the road. The motor of the Maruti Dzire dropped in another direction. On the other hand, the Ford EcoSport suffered less damage with the front ruined but the cabin remains untouched. The collision also inflicted damage on the A-Pillar but the damage appeared to be well absorbed. Its front airbags came in handy in protecting the passengers. In other cases, the doors often get stuck but in this one, the doors of the EcoSport were open.

For your information, the Ford EcoSPort has achieved 5 stars in the Latin-NCAP with such safety features as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts. In Euro NCAP crash tests. It got a 4-star rating. In the most recent USA NHTSA rating, it attained a 3-star rating. The India-bound EcoSport is expected to receive the same rating as that in the Latin NACP.
