Mahindra e-KUV100 To Be Available in 6 months

Mahindra has recently confirmed at 2019 Geneva Motor Show that the launch of the e-KUV100 in about six months away from us

Previously, Mahindra has announced to bring on the e-KUV100 sometime by the middle of 2019. At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show yesterday, Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, had restated that the launch of the pure electric vehicle would take place in about six months.

The e-KUV100 will come to the market in 6 months

The Mahindra has already showcased the car earlier at the Auto Expo 2018. By the time Mahindra increase the production volume, the domestic carmaker will continue converting the existing ICE-powered vehicles to EVs, in which, e-KUV100 will be also converted. It is claimed to be the first electric SUV in the Indian market.

Regarding the powertrain, the Mahindra pure electric vehicle uses a 30 kW (40.79 PS) electric motor which is powered by a Lithium-ion battery pack. The motor can provide a range of over 140 km. The fast charging is optional, in which, the battery could be charged up to 80% in less than an hour.

In terms of the features, the e-KUV100 is feature-rich with

  • Cabin pre-cooling

  • Location tracking

  • Remote diagnostics 

  • Driving pattern

The car will be offered with premium features

In the near future, Mahindra is also set to launch the pure electric XUV300 with codename S210 a year later following the launch of the e-KUV100. Speaking about the EV launch plans, Goenka has said,

In the short run, we are converting our current vehicles to EVs. So we already have e-Verito and we will be launching e-KUV in about six months time and one year after that we will launch electric XUV300. Post that, we are looking at doing platform ground up for electric vehicles.
