The Mahindra XUV300 automatic has been spotted on test once again. The commercial launch is expected to happen before the year-end.

The regular Mahindra XUV300 has been on sale since February 14 and the compact SUV has been selling like hot cakes in India right from the initial days. Last month, the XUV300 managed to triumph over the fast-running rivals like Tata Nexon and Ford Ecopsort to become the third best-selling model in the segment. Apart from the regular XUV300, Mahindra is all set to extend the variant lineup by the introduction of the XUV300 AMT in India sooner rather than later. Recently, the upcoming model has been spotted during its running test again on the public roads.

Mahindra is gearing up for the launch of the XUV300 AMT in India.

The production-spec automatic Mahindra XUV300 has been spotted undergoing testing on the roads near Gurgaon, hinting at the car’s readiness to go on sale in India soon. After the Mahindra XUV300 AMT, Mahindra will bring in a conventional automatic transmission for the model at a later stage.

Reportedly, the new XUV300’s automated manual gearbox is likely to be a 5-speed unit which has been already offered in the TUV300 elder brother as well. Following the 5-speed AMT will be an automatic option that might be available for both petrol and diesel mills option a later on. Currently, the Mahindra XUV300 is sourcing the power from the Marazzo-sourced 1.5-litre oil burner which comes to produce 115 hp of max power at 3,750 r/m and 300 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 r/m. Along with it, the XUV300 is also powered by a newly-built 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit tuned for 110 bhp of power at 5,000 r/m and 200 Nm of torque at 2,000-3,500 r/m. All the mills come coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. Fuel mileage of the petrol model stands at 17 km/l while that of the diesel version is at 20 km/l. We expect the Mahindra XUV300 AMT variant to get the same mileage figure as the manual configuration.
