Maruti Ertiga Cross will launch in August. The new crossover MPV will receive distinctive features from the ongoing Ertiga.

Maruti Ertiga’s second-generation has achieved huge commercial success for Maruti. This model has crossed the 8,500 monthly sales mark several times. The new model quickly captured a large market share, thereby strengthening its number one position in the MPV segment. To further the success under the Ertiga brand name, Maruti is developing a crossover out of its best-selling MPV. The new crossover is expected to be called Ertiga Cross. However, nothing is official yet. The Ertiga Cross will make its market debut in August this year.

Compared with its donor model, the Maruti Ertiga Cross will come with more premium package as well as a more aggressive styling. Ahead of its official reveal, the crossover has been spotted on road tests a couple of times. From the outside, the Ertiga Cross seems to sport a distinctive styling package which is largely different from the Ertiga. On the front face, a new and more robust grille will take place of the mild-looking unit from the Ertiga. Headlights packed with LED DRLs look sharper. Changes are spotted on the bumper with new chrome application. For the interior, it seems that Maruti Ertiga Cross will get the all-black interior colour scheme while the second row of the new Ertiga Cross will get two captain seats.

About the powertrain, the Ertiga Cross is likely to deploy the BSVI-compliant K15 smart hybrid petrol motor. The ongoing version of this engine is able to churn out the peak power of 105 PS and 138 Nm. On the Ertiga, a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic unit will be responsible for delivering power from this petrol engine to the wheels. The manual-petrol powertrain could return the fuel mileage of 19.34 kmpl while the automatic-petrol configuration is good for 18.69 kmpl.

After launched, the Ertiga Cross will be distributed via Nexa premium outlet while the Ertiga is retailed at regular Arena dealerships. With the success of its predecessor, the new Maruti Ertiga Cross will see a great expectation from the automobile customers. Unlike the affordable Ertiga, this new crossover MPV will target customers with a larger budget and will carry a more premium price tag.
