Here's a new rendering of the 5-door avatar of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny and it shows the SUV looks better proportionate with the rear doors thrown into the mix

Maruti Jimny will soon fill in the shoes of the Maruti Gypy King in the country as it is expected to launch by next year. It was recently showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo in what is known as the Sierra variant. However, reports suggest that India will get a 5-door version of the SUV. Indian market loves products that are performance-oriented but are also high on the practicality. Thus Maruti is considering the plan to launch the SUV with 2 extra doors. While we were busy thinking how the car would look like, our in-house digital expert Shoeb R. Kalania came up with this exciting rendering.

First look at this rendering reveals how proportionate the car looks after being stretched and an extra door is added to either of its sides. However, in the wake of fitting another door, the front door has been shortened, thereby decreasing the ease of access to the front seats by a short margin, but the access to the rear bench would be an easy affair now. Also, the rear bench will now boast of an increased knee room and legroom. Apart from these two changes, the car has not been altered in any direction.

The Jimny, in its current 2-door avatar, is a rather small car. It measures 3,645 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height. With the extended wheelbase to accommodate another door on both the sides, the overall length of the Jimny will be increased to just a shade under the 4m mark. The increase in the wheelbase will aid the Jimny with higher stability on roads, but on the flip side, it will reduce the car’s break-over angle.

Maruti Jimny Looks Proportionate with 5 Doors Instead Of 3

Maruti Jimny features a ladder-frame chassis, solid axles at both the ends, and a low-range transfer case to excel off the road.

The Suzuki Jimny will be launched the same 1.5L K-series motor as the Vitara Brezza. For the off-roader, it will likely belt out 102 PS and 130 Nm as its peak output. The transmission duties will be performed by a 5-speed manual as standard and a 4-speed torque converter unit as optioal. That said, the low-range transfer case with a 4x4 layout will be standard across the range. Once launched, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door will be priced in between a price range of Rs. 11.00 lakh to Rs. 13.00 lakh.
