Maruti Suzuki Ignis Zeta Trim Gets Touchscreen

Maruti has introduced a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Ignis Zeta trim. The updated model is now Rs 9,000 costlier.

India's biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has upgraded the equipment list of the new Ignis. Early this year, the automaker launched the facelift model of the premium hatchback, so this is the first update the 2020 model car has received. The Zeta variant of the car sits below the top-spec Alpha trim. The carmaker has started offering factory-fitted touchscreen infotainment unit as a standard fitment with the Zeta variant, replacing the 2-DIN audio system. The new touchscreen infotainment system will feature Maruti’s SmartPlay Studio along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The new infotainment unit also shows the reverse parking sensors guidelines.

The Zeta trim of the Maruti Ignis comes loaded with a long list of features like alloy wheels, steering mounted controls, rear wiper and washer and so on. However, the hatchback misses out on features like LED headlights with integrated DRLs and automatic climate control, which are offered with the top-of-the-line Alpha trim. The automaker has priced the updated Zeta Ignis at Rs 5.98 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 5-speed manual transmission variant, while the AMT equipped model now carries a price tag of Rs 6.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated model of Maruti Ignis is Rs 9,000 costlier than its predecessor.

The hatchback is retailed via company’s Nexa premium dealership network and rivals with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. Mechanically, it derives power from a 1.2-litre, four-pot petrol mill, which puts out power and torque outputs of 82bhp and 113 Nm. Transmission duties will be done by 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. The car is rated to offer 20.89 kmpl of fuel-efficiency. In terms of looks, the 2020 Maruti Ignis gets a newly designed grille upfront, which looks quite similar to the unit offered with S-Presso. It also gets a new front bumper with faux skid plate and a revised bumper at the back. The automaker has also introduced the Ignis facelift with two new colour shade options namely- Turquoise Blue and Lucent Orange.
