Maruti Swift Facelift To Launch Soon With Powerful Engine & Subtle Cosmetic Tweaks

Maruti Swift is one of the most popular hatchbacks in the Indian market. Even though the outgoing model of Maruti Swift has been around for years without significant updates, the car still stays relevant and attracts a lot of buyers. That being said, the Swift is approaching its due date for the next mid-life facelift. It is expected that the facelifted version of the Maruti Swift will be launched later this month.

Maruti Swift facelift is set to enter the Indian market this month  

According to some reports, the Maruti Swift facelift is going to get a host of cosmetic updates along with the introduction of a more powerful engine under the hood. A K12N DualJet petrol engine will be employed on the Swift facelift. This engine is also doing duty on the Dzire and Baleno. About the power outputs, the engine sheds out 90 PS on tap, which is 7 PS higher than the maximum power of the existing 1.2-litre K12M unit.

In addition, Maruti also makes use of the auto-start-stop function on this engine, ensuring a better fuel economy for the new Swift. It is noteworthy that the same engine is used on the most fuel-efficient model in the Indian market, Maruti Dzire. Since the Swift is lighter, it is expected that Maruti Swift can even achieve a higher fuel mileage than the existing Dzire. The gearbox options remain unchanged. The new engine will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox.

2021 Maruti Swift is likely to similar updates to the Japan-spec Swift facelift

In terms of the design, it is expected that the Swift will come with some small updates which mirror the changes on the Swift facelift that was introduced in Japan last year. Accordingly, Maruti Swift facelift will get a more aggressive grille design, a revised front bumper, among other changes. The interior, on the other hand, will remain mostly unchanged. There might be some extra adds-on including some interesting connectivity functions. These updates will come at a premium over the existing model.

Other than the new Maruti Swift facelift, the carmaker is also planning to launch some other new vehicles in the Indian market. In all likelihood, Maruti will launch the Jimny this year. Once launched, the Maruti Jimny will take on the Mahindra Thar.
