Next year, Maruti will introduce a new premium MPV to rival against the likes of Mahindra Marazzo

Maruti XL6 is one of the most popular MPVs offered by the carmaker in our market. The MPV has no direct rival in its segment. The closest competitor of Maruti XL6 is Mahindra Marazzo. But as per recent reports, the automaker has plans to introduce a new Marazzo competitor in India by the second half of next year. The all-new MPV by Maruti Suzuki will be co-developed by Toyota. As many of you may know that both the companies have signed a JV and has plans to introduce new products for the Indian market. Toyota has already launched two new cars under this partnership.

The upcoming Maruti MPV can be a big threat to Mahindra Marazzo. The all-new Maruti MPV will be a rebadged version of a Toyota MPV. Talking about Mahindra Marazzo, the car is priced between Rs 11.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 13.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). One can expect Maruti to price its all-new MPV aggressively. It’ll sit above XL6 in the automaker’s stable. It is expected to be powered by Maruti’s K15B petrol engine, which churns out 103bhp of power and 138 Nm of peak torque. It is likely to come paired with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The same powertrain does duties in Maruti Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6, Vitara Brezza and S-Cross.

Under this JV recently, Toyota launched its first-ever sub-4-meter SUV named as Urban Cruiser. It is the rebadged version of Maruti Vitara Brezza. Inside, the all-new Urban Cruiser features the Toyota logo on the steering wheel along with two-tone cabin. Features like keyless entry, automatic climate control, the push-button start-stop feature will be offered as a standard fitment across all the trims. The automaker has also added new colour shade options to make the SUV look a bit different from the regular Maruti SUV. It competes with the likes of Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.
