MG Motors India has recorded a sales figure of 2,608 units for September 2019, which more than four times the total number of units sold by Jeep in the same period.

MG Motor India has released its sales numbers for September 2019. The British marquee has dispatched 2,608 units of the MG Hector SUV to customers. This figure is more than 4 times that of the Jeep Compass, which managed to sell only 603 units in September 2019. Not only that, but MG has registered a growth of nearly 29%, while Jeep has remained stagnant, registering a decrement of 0.33%.

MG has also re-opened bookings for the Hector on Sep 29th, having temporarily put it on hold earlier. Even the current waiting period of 3-4 months isn’t deterring buyers, who are flocking towards dealerships to get one. MG has also announced a price hike of Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 the Hector, depending on the trim. Customers who have booked their model in the first round will be exempt from the revised pricing. The pricing will only concern new bookings. Also, a 6-seater version of the MG Hector was spied recently, hinting at a launch soon. This will help cement the MG’s popularity among urban buyers.

On the other hand, Jeep has recently launched the Wrangler JT in India, but it is a CBU import with little-to-no volume. Also, there are no plans for a facelift for the Compass. The launch of the Compass Trailhawk was intended to rake up consumer interest but wasn’t very successful due to its steep pricing.
