MG India plans to introduce an all-new small SUV in the first half of 2021. It'll rival the likes of Hyundai Venue and Maruti Vitara Brezza

MG Motor India plans to expand its vehicle line-up by introducing many new models in the next 2-3 years. In a recent interview with Car and Bike, Rajiv Chaba, President and MD, MG Motors India said that the carmaker intends to launch an all-new small SUV in the market, which will sit under the Hector in the company’s vehicle line-up. The upcoming SUV will be the most affordable car in MG’s stable. Most likely, the new model will be a compact SUV that will be priced under Rs 10 lakh. The upcoming SUV will rival the likes of Hyundai Venue and will hit the Indian shores by the first-half of next year.

Once launched, it’ll compete with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and upcoming Kia Sonet. Moreover, the all-new sub-4 meter SUV by MG will be available with petrol and diesel engine options. There will be no electric powertrain on offer. MG Hector was the first-ever vehicle offered by the British carmaker in the country, and it has been a big hit and now, a smaller SUV could repeat the success story by giving a tough time to Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, etc. After introducing the all-new sub-4 meter SUV, the carmaker has plans to launch the MG G10 MPV, which was showcased earlier this year at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The Multi-Purpose Vehicle will be offered in 7 and 8-seat configuration and will come loaded with features like MG’s iSmat Connected technology, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, powered sliding rear door and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Mechanically, it’ll derive power from a 2.0-litre, 4-pot turbocharged motor, paired with a 6-speed MT or automatic transmission.
