MG Registers 33% YoY Growth in December 2020

MG Motor is one of the new car brands in the Indian market. Starting out with the MG Hector in mid-2019, up to this point, MG Motor has four models to its name in the domestic market. Last month, the car company registered a year-on-year growth of 33 per cent, which is a positive indicator for a new brand like MG.

At the moment, MG Motor is running a range of four cars including MG Hector, MG Gloster, MG Hector Plus and MG ZS EV. Out of these models, the MG Hector remains to be the main product with the highest sales. The Gloster is the latest car to enter the range and is expected to garner a greater number of customers in the future. In the meanwhile, MG is planning to roll out some new models in the following months.

MG just launched the updated version of the Hector Plus. Coming up next, there will be a new launch in the compact SUV segment with the ZS. Apparently, MG does not like to take their time. Instead, the fledgeling car brand is busy keeping its vehicle line-up fresh and abundant. In just one year, MG Motor has already built a diverse product line-up with vehicles in different segments. We have the mid-size MG Hector SUV, premium SUV Gloster and even a fully-electric SUV ZS EV. That’s to say, the diversification is something MG Motor is going after.

Going back the to sales breakdown, in the last month of 2020, MG Motor sold over 4000 units, which is around 33 percent higher than the sales mark of December 2019. In the same month of 2019, MG managed to sell around 3,000 units. MG Hector leads the range with 3,430 units sold. MG Gloster is the second best-selling model with 458 units. In addition, 112 units of the ZS EV were sold, which is an encouraging sales number for an EV model.

Expectedly, with the launch of newer vehicles, MG Motor will be able to increase sales figures. However, achieving such growth is not easy, considering the increasing competition in the market. This year, the automotive industry is about to welcome various new models along with some new car brands to enter the market.
