Upcoming New-gen Mahindra Scorpio Snapped While Testing in Manali

The new-gen Mahindra Scorpio has been recently spied while getting tested. The all-new Mahindra SUV will derive power from a petrol and diesel mill.

Earlier, Mahindra & Mahindra has plans to launch new-gen XUV500 and Scorpio last year, but it got delayed due to the pandemic. Now, the launch of both SUVs is expected to happen in coming months. First, the automaker will launch the new-gen XUV500, which is expected to happen in April this year, while one can expect the 2021 Scorpio to hit the Indian shores by July 2021. Both SUVs has been spied while getting tested several times. Recently, the new-gen Mahindra Scorpio has been snapped while getting tested in Manali.

The test mule of the SUV was fully camouflaged, but this is the first time that the production-spec trim of the car has been spotted. As compared to the current-gen model, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be bigger in dimension and will offer a more spacious interior. Moreover, it will come loaded with a lot of features like a touchscreen infotainment unit with the latest connectivity options, drive modes, wireless charging pad, cruise control, sunroof and much more. Mechanically, the new-gen model of the SUV will be powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. The former develops 150 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque, while the latter is capable of shredding out power and torque outputs of 150 PS and 320 Nm. The engine will come paired with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The same powertrain option does duties in the new-gen Mahindra Thar. Moreover, this petrol and diesel engine will also propel the 2021 Mahindra XUV500. The all-new Mahindra XUV500 is likely to be the most feature-loaded and technologically advanced Mahindra SUV ever. It will feature ADAS based autonomous features like automatic parking. The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will also get a panoramic sunroof, largest touchscreen infotainment unit in its segment, a fully digital instrument cluster and so on. Once launched, it will rival against the likes of MG Hector Plus and upcoming Tata Safari.
