The updated model of the Toyota Prius gets a more simple design as well as new features and is likely to be introduced to the Indian auto market in 2019.

Toyota has unveiled the facelifted Toyota Prius at the LA Auto Show. The outgoing model was also debuted at the same event in 2015. The 2019 Toyota Prius, which is projected to go to India in 2019 is expected to be equipped with both several exterior and interior changes as well as mechanical alterations over the pre-facelift one, which is now available in India.

1. 2019 Toyota Prius Updated Exterior

The next-gen Toyota Prius comes with a redesigned front fascia, which is now more mature with some quirky bits made more simple. The upgraded headlamps now have been given a smoother and slimmer layout to look like that of the plug-in hybrid variants. The bumper is quite less angular than before and is integrated with circular fog lamps instead of triangular ones like before. A new set of alloy wheels have also been added to the facelifted Prius. The vehicle also receives a restyled tail lamps: they stretch vertically down instead of turning inwards. Auto buyers now have more colour options to choose from with the addition of the two new exterior colours: aqua breeze and emotional red

2. 2019 Toyota Prius Refreshed Interior

Toyota has also tried to increase the attractiveness of the vehicle by tweaking its cabin a little bit. Though the changes are subtle, we can still realize some interior changes in the updated version, including

  • New seat coverings

  • More responsive Toyota Entune infotainment system

  • Larger smartphone wireless charging pad

  • Updated navigation system with a head-up display which shows detailed instructions

3. 2019 Toyota Prius New Engine

Whereas the unchanged 1.8L petrol hybrid motor on the outgoing model will continue to provide power for the Prius, an AWD (all-wheel-drive) variant has now been added to this updated line-up. Known as the Prius AWD-e, this electric AWD system includes an electric motor on the rear axle which supports in the beginning acceleration up to a max speed of 69kmph whenever stability or grip is required. The Prius AWD-e is going to the UK soon, marking the first time that this system has been introduced on a Prius outside Japan. Detailed mechanical specifications of the new Prius have not been revealed by the Japanese automaker. We will inform you as soon as Toyota announces it, maybe at the Brussels Motor Show in January 2019.
