Next-gen Hyundai Elite i20 to be Smaller than International Version

The dimensions, features, and engine option of next-generation Hyundai Elite i20 revealed. The new car will be bigger and will be packed with a lot more feature than the outgoing car.

Hyundai Elite i20 is all set to be upgraded to next-generation this year. Hyundai has already revealed the car digitally and is expected to be showcased to the masses at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. In pictures, the car looks marginally bigger and surely upmarket in its new avatar. It adorns new looks on the outside as well as on the inside. The car now boasts of some sharp cuts and creases to revamp the exterior appearance, thanks to Hyundai’s new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ that debuted on the Le Fil Rouge concept.

Hyundai will showcase the car to the masses at Geneva Motor Show in March.

Dimensionally, the international-spec Elite i20 will measure at 4040mm in length, 1750mm in width, and 1450mm in height. The i20 will also feature a longer wheelbase of 2580mm. That said, the new Elite i20 will have its bumper trimmed down to measure under 4 meters in length. The outgoing Elite i20 sold in the Indian market was also a shortened version of car sold internationally, since the car sold in the international market was 4035mm long. The new car will get an increased boot space of 351 litres which is an increase of 70 litres over the outgoing car.

Next-Gen Elite i20 will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.

The interior of the next-gen Elite i20 is already revealed. It looks gorgeous on the inside with the AC vent design inspired by the larger and newer Audis. The car features a new steering wheel this time, which is identical to the upcoming 2020 Creta. The new Elite i20 will get a centrally mounted 10.25-inch touchscreen in a similar fashion as seen on the Kia Seltos. The lower-spec versions will get a smaller 8.0-inch screen display.

The outgoing Elite i20 is a feature-packed car and the next-generation of the car is packed with even more features. It will offer a 7-speaker Bose sound system in place of the Arkamys tuned setup. It also gets adaptive cruise control with cyclist and pedestrian detection, blind-spot collision avoidance system, speed limiter, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The car will be offered with 3 engine options in total.

To power the wheels, the next-gen Elite i20 will get a 120hp 1.0L turbo-petrol engine with a mild-hybrid tech to provide an additional power and efficiency boost. Other engines on offer will be an 83 PS 1.2L N/A 4-cylinder petrol motor and a 1.5L BS-6 compliant diesel engine with a rated power output of 90 PS.  On the Indian version, the car is expected to feature the 1.0L turbo-petrol without any mild-hybrid tech.
