Paris Motor Show: Mercedes B Class

Paris Motor Show is where thousands of cars gathering and among these stars of this year’s show, just some of them shows the possibility to approach the Indian market. Mercedes B Class is among them.

Mercedes B Class will make its first appearance at one of the largest auto shows in the world – the on-going Paris Motor Show. The car has been gone under the name W247 on the developing stage.

At its global debut, Mercedes B Class has shown comprehensive makeover. First of all, the new B Class is a larger car than the recent version. The 2019 B Class stands at 4,359mm in length, 1,786mm in width and 1,557mm in height.

The styling of the car receives a number of updates. At the fascia, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class will inherit the predator face from the A-Class. It will have a larger front grille, short overhang, and sharper headlight units. Compared to the last model, it obviously looks more salient. The wheels will sit at 16 inches or 19 inches.

Inside the cabin, the B Class will get new seat integrated with energizing seat kinetics which will smartly adjust to the passenger’s movement. Apart from that, there will also be the application of MBUX – Mercedes Benz User Experience technology. This AI-based assistant will learn the behavior of the driver and adapt. It includes control by touch, voice and gesture, and Mercedes Me connectivity.

On the dashboard, the B-Class will not come with one but two offers of digital instrument display, 7.0-inch or 10.25-inch unit. What’s more, S-class’s premium autonomous driving technology will appear on the B-Class.

Under the hood, the diesel B-Class will be powered by a 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre motor. The smaller engine could make 115bhp and 260Nm, while the new and larger engine will come in two states of tunes, which are 150bhp/320Nm for the B180d variant and 190bhp/400Nm for the B200d. It will come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

For the petrol version, the only 1.3-litre M282 engine will be paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, the same one for the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine could provide 136hp/200Nm and 163hp/250Nm for the B 180 and B 200, respectively.
