Skoda is planning to launch a new compact SUV in India next year. Ahead of its launch, Skoda drops teaser for the exterior design of the new SUV.
Skoda has dropped new sketches of its upcoming compact SUV called Skoda Vision IN. It is confirmed that Skoda has pinpointed 5 February to be the official revealing day of this compact SUV. The recent sketches have suggested the overall look of the new SUV and helped us to imagine how the final production version of the car would look like. Skoda will bring the Skoda Vision IN into production in 2020 or 2021. The official launch is expected to occur around middle 2021.
Skoda Vision IN takes great inspiration from the Skoda Kamiq
As per the latest sketches, Skoda Vision N is strongly inspired by the design of the Skoda Kamiq. On the front end, the Vision N will sport Skoda’s signature front grille with heavy chrome garnish. Also, the Vision N also gets the split-up headlight setting with two projector headlights flanking the central chrome grille. This headlight design style is currently on-trend in the market, making the new Skoda’s compact SUV look fashionable and relevant.
Besides the sketch of the fascia, the second sketch reveals the rear-end design. The rear of the new SUV will come with a full-LED taillight which looks similar to the one of Kodiaq. However, just like the front design, the rear strongly reminds us of the current Skoda Kamiq. The rear design gets a sleek design with Skoda lettering running across the boot lid. The sketch also suggests heavy use of cladding for the bumper. It is likely that the Skoda compact SUV will get roof-rail and alloy wheels.
Skoda Vision IN compact SUV will make use of the MQB A0 IN platform
According to an official reveal by Skoda, the new SUV will be 4.26 meter long, which is around the same length with the Hyundai Creta. The wheelbase measures 2,651mm, providing a great interior space. This compact SUV is underpinned by MQB A0 IN platform which will be employed in many other Volkswagen Group’s new cars in the time to come. This platform is developed for the Indian market in particular with special attention to the cost-effective approaching, which ensures competitive pricing for VW in our market.
Previously, Skoda released the images of the interior of the upcoming SUV. The sketch reveals some important highlight of the interior including a large floating infotainment system and a virtual cockpit digital instrument cluster. Along with these features, Skoda Vision IN is likely to include upmarket features like rear charging ports, multiple drive modes panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents, ambient lighting to name a few.
About the engine, Skoda Vision IN will be powered by a 1.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. A CNG version of this compact SUV is likely to be introduced. No diesel engine will be offered since Skoda has confirmed that they will not retain the diesel variant on its range after the BSVI kicks off in this April. After launch, Skoda Vision IN will take on the like of Kia Seltos, second-gen Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500 and more. To get the latest news, visit IndianAuto.com.
