The Tata Altroz turbo gasoline will be the first offering of the home-grown automaker to be offered with a DCT. The hatchback is slated for launch in this festive season.

While Tata was rumoured to be developing the Altroz JTP, it has been now made clear that this performance version of the hatchback will never become a reality. The company, instead, is developing a more powerful version of the Tata Altroz, which will be simply known as the Tata Altroz Turbo. Up to now, the turbo petrol versions of some models have recorded a good sales number. One striking example is the VW Polo GT TSI. Recently, the Tata Altroz Turbo petrol was spied without camouflage, which hints at an imminent launch.

The mechanical specifications of the turbo gasoline version of the Tata Altroz are unknown. The hatchback is anticipated to receive its power from a modified version of the 1.2-litre Revotron turbo gasoline burner which currently serves as the power source for the Tata Nexon. The transmission duties will be undertaken by a standard 6-speed MT and an optional DCT, which is the first in a Tata offering. Currently, the BS6 gasoline burner of the Tata Nexon can produce 118 BHP against 170 Nm. In the meantime, the naturally aspirated petrol motor in the Tata Altroz has been tuned to generate 85 BHP against 113 Nm. The turbo Tata Altroz is reported to be launched in the upcoming festive season.
