Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP To Get New Features

Last year, Tata Motors has launched the performance-focused JTP variants of the hatchback Tiago and sedan Tigor. This year, the homegrown carmaker is planning to add some new features to these performance models. Tata Motors will team up with Jayem Automotives, a major car parts manufacturer in India, to deliver updates for the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP.

Reportedly, the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP will receive a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It is the same unit featured on top-spec XZ+ trims of Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor. Other than this, it is possible that the performance-oriented variants of Tigor and Tiago will come with power foldable ORVMs.

The recent Tata Tigor JTP is available with automatic climate control while this feature is absent on the Tiago JTP. On the updated version, to keep up with its sedan counterpart, the hatchback Tiago will be equipped with the same system. The feature updates on these performance models are meant to keep them on par with the top-of-the-line XZ+ trim from the regular versions.

Apart from these new fitments, the Tata Tiago and Tigor JTP remain the same in terms of styling and engineering. Compared with the standard cars, the JTP models get some extra sporty exterior elements like bonnet scoop and fender vents, side skirts, larger 15-inch alloy wheels, a rear diffuser and dual exhaust pipe. Most of these features serve the styling purpose rather than being functional. These design features highlight the performance-oriented nature of the JTP models. For the interior, the JTP models sport unique hexagonal pattern with red stitching on seat fabric and pedal extensions made of aluminium.

Tata Tiago and Tigor JTP will be updated by the end of this month

In terms of powertrains, Tata Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP both feature a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine. This engine can develop a maximum power of 114 PS and a 150 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a standard 5-speed manual transmission. Compared with the regular version, these performance-focused variants sit on a lower stance to deliver a better dynamic drive.

After receiving new feature updates, both Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP will see a slight price hike. Currently, these models are on sale at Rs 6.39 lakh and Rs 7.49 lakh respectively. The updates will be up for sale by the end of this month. For more car news and stories, visit our site - IndianAuto.com
