Upcoming Kia Electric SUV Can Do 0-100 KMPH Under 3 Seconds

Kia has plans to launch an all-new electric crossover by next year. The upcoming EV is capable enough to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph under 3 seconds.

The Korean automaker, Kia has plans to introduce an all-new electric crossover by next year, which is internally named as CV, and the car will be based on the Imagine concept displayed last year. It is part of company's aim to offer electrified cars around the world in the coming years. Moreover, the upcoming electric crossover will be the first product based on Hyundai’s E-GMP architecture with new-gen charging tech. From the past few months, a lot of new information has been out regarding this new electric crossover. Kia’s upcoming electric car will benefit carmaker’s partnership with Rimac, and it’s already confirmed that the all-new electric SUV will offer 482 km of range and is capable to replenish in just 20 minutes.

The EV will be equipped with the same 800 V tech, which does duties in the award-winning Porsche Taycan. The carmaker has also plans to introduce a more performance-oriented version of the upcoming electric crossover, which will rub shoulders with the likes of Porsche Taycan. In a recent interview, Mr Emilio Herrera, Kia Motors Europe’s Chief Operating Officer, said that the new performance car will be launched in the near future. Moreover, it can sprint from 0-100 in under 3 seconds. In terms of performace, Kia’s upcoming crossover will sit at the top in the automaker’s line-up. By 2020, the Korean carmaker has aimed at accumulating 25 per cent of its cumulative sales from eco-friendly cars. Next year, Kia has plans to launch a range of zero-emission vehicles which consist of cars like Kia e-Niro and Soul EV.

Not a lot of information has been revealed by the automaker regarding the design language of the car, but one can expect the upcoming electric crossover to feature the company’s signature Tiger Nose grille and a fastback styling. Right now, Kia Motor is offering only two products in our market namely Seltos and Carnival. Later this year, the automaker has plans to introduce an all-new compact SUV named as Kia Sonet, which will compete with the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
