Volkswagen Taigun is all set to enter the Indian market this year. Here is the latest teaser image shared by Volkswagen Taigun across social media platforms.
It is widely known that Volkswagen is working on a mid-sized SUV called Taigun. Recently, the German car brand has released the newest image for the upcoming SUV in its official website and its social media platforms. The new teaser has given away the front design of the production-ready mid-sized SUV.
Underpinned by the MG AO IN platform, Volkswagen Taigun is developed specifically for the Indian market. This platform is designed exclusively for Volkswagen’s upcoming line-up for the Indian market. Some of the future models will adopt this architecture include the Skoda Vision IN and the new VW Vento. On arriving the Indian market, the Taigun will carry forward some styling elements from the global-spec T-Cross and T-Roc.
As per the revealed image, the Volkswagen Taigun comes with an upright stance on the front. There is an extensive application of chrome elements on the front with chrome highlights on the front grille, chrome bar across the air dam and chrome lining around the foglight housings. Both the grille and the lower air dam features the honeycomb pattern. Carrying the traditional SUV-ish look, the VW Taigun sports a sculpted bonnet, black plastic cladding along with a pronounced silver skid plate. It is visible from the teaser image that the VW Taigun offers LED headlamps and LED DRLs.
Only a part of the side profile is revealed on the latest teaser image. However, we can tell that upcoming mid-sized SUV from VW will get accentuated wheel arches, multi-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails as well as dual-tone ORVMs.
As for the rear end design, it is expected that the VW Taigun will come with roof-mounted spoiler, faux diffuser, dual-tone bumper and LED brake light. The interior of the car is not revealed either. But it is quite certain that Volkswagen will load the Taigun with premium features like full-digital instrument console, large touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features, wireless charging, automatic AC and more.
Under the hood, Volkswagen Tiguan will derive power from one of the following options: a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine. While the former is capable of making 110bhp of top power and 175Nm of maximum torque, the latter is good for 147bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre petrol engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine is exclusively paired to a DSG automatic gearbox. At launch, Volkswagen Taigun will fare against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
