Here are a few pictures of the 2020 Mahindra Thar, which now rides on a set of 22-inch alloy wheels. Don't you think these humongous wheels have robbed its hardcore off-roading capabilities and made it a mall crawler, instead?
Last year, Mahindra & Mahindra launched the new-gen Thar in the Indian market. The 2020 model of the SUV soon got popular among the buyers around India. It is known for its modern looks, feature-loaded cabin and off-road capabilities. Many enthusiasts around India have also started customizing the all-new model of the SUV as per their preferences. Here are a few images of a customized 2020 Mahindra Thar, which gets humongous aftermarket alloy wheels, which are sod with super-low-profile tyres.
From the factory, new-gen Thar comes with 18-inch alloy wheels. The Mahindra Thar you see here, however, gets 22-inch aftermarket alloy wheels that feature a multi-spoke design. These huge silver-coloured alloy units are gelling up well with the black colour shade of the car. These rims are shod with low profile tyres. The front brake callipers of the Thar are also painted in the red shade to enhance the sporty quotient of the car. The biggest drawback of getting such big alloy wheels is that they are prone to damage when encountering potholes or speed bumps at high speed. Other than these alloy wheels, no modifications have been done on the car. These aftermarket rims are of Plati brand and the customization job has been performed by Monga Tyres, who are based out of Ludhiana, Punjab.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar is powered by 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. The former develops 150 Bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque, while the latter is capable of shredding out power and torque outputs of 130 Bhp and 300 Nm, respectively. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The all-new Mahindra Thar is developed on a new platform and is bigger in dimensions as compared to its predecessor. It comes loaded with features like a touchscreen infotainment unit with latest connectivity features, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, a semi-digital instrument console and much more. It is retailed at a starting price of Rs 12.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base trim and goes all the way up to Rs 14.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec variant.
