2021 Maruti Swift VS Ignis Facelift Acceleration Test

Here’s a quick acceleration test between Maruti Swift facelift and Maruti Ignis. Watch the video embedded below to known surprising results. 

Recently, Maruti Suzuki launched the new Swift facelift in the Indian market. The carmaker has made subtle cosmetic and feature updates on the outside and inside. Last year, Maruti Suzuki introduced the Ignis facelift in our market. Both cars are powered by a 1.2-litre litre NA petrol motor. The powertrain propelling Maruti Swift shreds out 90 PS of power, while the engine offered with Maruti Ignis develops a power output of 83 PS. Initially, when the third-gen Maruti Swift went on sale, it was powered by the same K12 engine, which propels the Ignis. To check the performance of both hatchbacks, here’s a quick 0 to 100 kmph acceleration test. Check out the video embedded below to know amazing results.

We put their acceleration runs against each other to see, which one is quicker. In the first round, both hatchbacks took 13.50 seconds to touch the 100 kmph mark. Nevertheless, in the second round, Maruti Swift took 13.97 seconds to achieve 100kmph, while Ignis took 13.23 seconds to do the same. In the last round, The Maruti Swift accelerated from 0-100kmph in 13.23 seconds, while the Ignis does the same job in 12.80 seconds. All the results simply show that the Ignis is slightly quicker than the new Maruti Swift. The Maruti Swift is more powerful on paper, while the Ignis wins in real-world conditions.

Talking about the new Maruti Swift facelift, Inside, it now comes loaded with features like cruise control, idle start and stop system, and key synchronized automatically-foldable. The new model of the hatchback is offered in five different trim levels namely- LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI+ and ZXI+ Dual Tone. In its segment, it rivals with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Ford Figo. Furthermore, it is offered in nine unique colour shades. The 2021 Maruti Swift gets retailed at a starting price of Rs 5.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base model and goes all the way up to Rs 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
