Recently, the American automaker Ford has launched the new SE variant of the EcoSport in India. Nevertheless, that’s not all, as the automaker has some big plans for our market. Ford has plans to introduce a lot of new products in India this year. Reports suggest that Ford will offer as many as five new cars in the coming months. Given below are the upcoming Ford cars that go on sale in the Indian market this year.
Ford Focus is a premium hatchback, which is quite popular in the European markets. The carmaker has plans to bring it as a CBU unit, which will attract a lot of tax. To bring Focus to India, the carmaker is expected to utilize the “No requirement for homologation for any model selling less than 2,500 units per annum” rule. Ford Focus is bigger than Hyundai i20 and Maruti Baleno. In the foreign markets, it is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-pot gasoline mill, which is capable of shredding out 125 PS of peak power. It is also offered with a more potent 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine, which develops a power output of 160 PS.
2. Ford Focus ST
The Ford Focus ST is the more potent version of the regular Focus. It derives power from a 2.3-litre turbo-petrol unit, which churns out power and torque outputs of 280 PS and 420 Nm, respectively. It comes paired with a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT. Moreover, it gets a lot of advanced techs like rev-matching, high-performance Recaro seats, electronic limited-slip differential, twin-exhausts and an adaptive suspension with continuously controlled damping technology.
3. Ford Ranger Raptor
The Ford Raptor is quite known among the enthusiasts around India. There are many people in India, who have privately imported the Ranger Raptor in India. However, officially it will be offered in the country as CBU and will be limited to 2,500 units per year. The cost of the Ford pick-up will be quite expensive because of the importing costs. It is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel mill, which generates power and torque outputs of 213 PS and 500 Nm, respectively. The engine comes paired with a 10-speed AT. The high-performance off-road truck employs reinforced chassis, 288 mm of ground clearance, 2.5-inch lift kit with off-road spec Fox suspension, and BAJA mode. In the Indian market, it will rival the likes of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
Ford Figo is one of the most capable hatchbacks in its segment but is now due for a much-deserving update. That’s why the car is now unable to achieve good sales numbers as compared to its rivals. The carmaker is likely to introduce the new-gen Figo in our market by the end of this year. It is expected to be powered by a turbocharged gasoline mill, which Mahindra will supply. Nevertheless, since the announcement of the joint venture coming to an end, both the automakers have been tight-lipped about their new strategies.
5. Ford EcoSport
Ford EcoSport is one of the most popular sub-4-meter SUVs offered in the Indian market. Nevertheless, the carmaker has not updated the SUV thoroughly since its launch, while the rivals have received note-worthy updates. The new Ford EcoSport will be powered by the mStallion mill from Mahindra, which is expected to develop power and torque outputs of 122 PS and 149 Nm, respectively.
