You might have already seen the Mahindra Thar 6x6 modification and loved it. However, how about a Maruti 800 that has a similar setup?

For most of us Indians, Maruti 800 is either the first car we drove or the first car we bought. Sadly, in 2014, Maruti pulled the plug on the 800’s production after being on sale for over 34 years. Examples of this small entry-level hatchback can be seen working in perfect condition. Moreover, it has now attained the status of a collector’s delight; hence coming across a tastefully modified example isn’t tough either. Also, 800 patrons are often seen digitally imagining it in various avatars. Here’s one digitally-modified example that now boasts of a 6X6 drivetrain. This artwork is the courtesy of Bimble Designs and we feel that it's definitely wackier than the 6x6 Mahindra Thar many of you would have seen.

The designer has made two iterations of the Maruti 800 6x6. One of which is designed as a mall crawler, while the other one looks all set to conquer any terrain you drive it in. Starting with the sober one of the two, it gets a set of massive alloy wheels which are wrapped in low-profile tyres. To fit an extra axle at the rear, the 800 has been stretched a fair bit after the b-pillar. Also, it gets custom wheel arches on the sides and roof marker lamps on the top. The headlamps are tweaked as well.

Moving over to the off-road centric avatar, it features a few changes. The massive alloy wheels are now replaced with steel wheels, which are shod with chunky off-road tyres. It gets a massive roof carrier to store some luggage and spare wheel. Also, a set of auxiliary lamps are mounted on it. On the front, a nudge guard has been fixed which is winch-compatible.

While these modified Maruti 800 6X6 examples look bonkers in the rendering, modifying one for real is next to impossible. Even if executed, the reliability of the setup will always remain unpredictable. Furthermore, the 800 would need an engine swap to lug the extra weight, as it was offered with a small 796cc N/A petrol engine that belted out 37 horses and 59 Nm. It came coupled to a 4-speed MT for the most time, but a 5-speed MT was offered for a small duration.
