Kia Motors India has already commenced the production of the new model at its Anantpur production facility. The SUV has already started arriving at dealerships across the country. Recently, a completely uncamouflaged unit has been spotted on Gurgaon-Manesar highway.
The video embedded above shows the overall road presence of the SUV alongside a few other popular Indian cars like Hyundai Creta, Maruti WagonR, Maruti Swift, etc. Overall the SUV looks quite good and has a distinctive design language as compared to other sub-4-meter SUVs offered in the Indian market. Kia has already started accepting bookings of the SUV and a potential customer can book the 2020 Kia Sonet at a token amount of Rs 25,000. In just a few days since the commencement of the pre-bookings, the automaker has receivedmore than 10,000 bookings. The upcoming Kia SUV will be the company’s third product in the Indian market and will be offered in two different variants namely- Tech Line and GT Line. The former will be available in a GTX+ trim, while the latter will be sold in HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX and HTX+ variants.
In terms of design, the production-spec Kia Sonet looks a lot like the concept model showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. It employs a ‘Tiger Nose’ grille upfront, silver-coloured faux skid plate, and a sporty looking bumper. Illumination duties are done by LED headlamps with integrated Heartbeat LED DRLs. The side profile of the SUV gets blacked-out pillars, all black plastic cladding, sloping roofline, rear-sloping C-pillar, and bold creases. The rear profile of the SUV will feature wrap-around LED taillights adjoined by red coloured reflector strip, a sporty looking rear bumper and faux dual-exhaust muffler. It derives power from three different engines and comes mated to manual and automatic transmission options.
