You know Mahindra & Mahindra for its iconic passenger vehicles like Thar, Bolero, Quanto, Scorpio or the XUV range. Though, you might not know that the company also manufacturers purpose-built SUVs that are like tanks as well as some commercial cars like pickup trucks and vans. However, there are some Mahindra vehicles that are far more capable than aforementioned.

The home-grown auto giant also develops construction equipment, tractor, and even a range of defence vehicles, which totally deserve your compliment. Here’s the latest locally-built defence vehicle coming from the house of Mahindra & Mahindra that is called the “Mine Resistant Ambush Protected’ speciality defence vehicle. The vehicle is completely built in-house to export to the UN’s peacekeeping forces at various places around the world, and Anand Mahindra thinks that it would be perfect to drive it in Mumbai.

It is a fantastic beast, ain’t it? The vehicle was built like a huge tank and features a lot of heavy-duty equipment both on inside and outside. This machine also gets ‘Interrogation arms’ used to lift the roadside Improvised Explosive Devices – an important feature for the peacekeepers.

As for Anand Mahindra, it’s a “mean machine”. In a recent twitter post, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group commented that “It embodies the real spirit of Mahindra Defence which is about keeping peacekeepers safe”. He also mentioned that if the vehicle was legal on the street, it would be a perfect car to drive in Mumbai.

For the uninitiated, Mahindra Defence System is the Group’s division that specializes in heavy-duty armoured vehicles for the military and paramilitary forces.
