Take a look at this modified Mahindra Thar, which now features a custom interior with increased comfort levels. Read more about it here.
Mahindra Thar in its new-gen rendition is making the Indian audience fall for its updated design, revamped interior and new engine-gearbox choices. While its last-gen counterpart can be best described as utilitarian, the new-gen Thar comes with a posher cabin. However, it misses out on some essential bits, like cup/bottle holders in the second row and centre armrest for front seats. Moreover, the interior is finished in black theme, which tends to make things claustrophobic here. With some subtle aftermarket customization, these issues can be rectified to some extent. Here’s a modified Mahindra Thar, which now features a customized interior and has managed to get away from the aforementioned issues.
The Thar in the pictures is modified by Auto Trade Interior Solutions. The tuner has brilliantly customized the interior of this Thar. It now features a dual-tone theme for the dashboard by using brown shade for the lower half of the dash. The same colour scheme is used for the steering wheel, centre console, and door pads. For the upholstery, the tuner has used white leather, which makes the seats look bespoke. Also, the seats get brown piping along with a diamond-pattern for the stitching.
For the improved comfort levels, armrests have been fixed on the front- and second-row seats. The rear wheel wells intrude in the cabin of new-gen Mahindra Thar. They look odd too. To make good use of the wheel wells, the modifier has fixed aftermarket armrests over them, which come with integrated cup holders.
The new-gen Mahindra Thar is on sale with two engine options – 2.0L mStallion turbo-petrol motor and a 2.2L mHawk turbo-diesel engine. The petrol motor is capable of developing 150 HP of peak power and 320 Nm of max torque. The oil burner, on the other hand, produces peak power and torque output of 130 HP and 300 Nm, respectively. Transmission options on the new-gen Thar include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The prices start at Rs. 11.20 lakh and go up to Rs. 14.15 lakh.
