MG Gloster Offroad Capabilities Shown in the Latest TVC

MG Motor India is gearing up to launch the Maxus D90-based MG Gloster. The upcoming SUV will be larger than the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour

MG Gloster is all set to enter the market by the end of this year. This SUV is among the most anticipated launches of the third quarter of 2020. Even though MG Motor India has not yet confirmed the exact launch date of the new premium SUV, it is likely that the Gloster will go on sale next month. It must be mentioned here that dimensionally, the Maxus D90-based upcoming SUV enjoys an advantage over the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. However, it's also likely to cost a wee bit more. 

MG Gloster | Intelligent 4 Wheel Drive

As some of you might be aware, the MG Gloster is based on the Maxus D90 which is currently on sale in the Chinese market. In the beginning, the MG Gloster will come with the two seating configurations, 6-seater and 7-seater. Based on the ladder-on-frame chassis, the MG Gloster will be a massive vehicle with impressive road presence. According to the available information, the MG Gloster measures 5005 mm, 1932 and 1875 mm in length, width and height, respectively, making it the largest car in the segment.

About the exterior, the upcoming premium SUV features a dominant chrome-garnished grille and a pronounced bumper design, accentuating the massiveness and bold styling of SUV. There are LED projector headlights with integrated LED DRLs as well as a robust bonnet on the front. MG Gloster also gets LED taillights, 19-inch dual-colour multi-spoke alloy wheels

However, the highlight of the newly-released TVC is not the aggressive exterior of the Gloster but its astounding off-road readiness. It is confirmed that the new MG Gloster will be offered with powerful engines, an on-demand 4x4 system as well as a multiple-drive-mode system. MG Gloster’s Rock, Sand, Mud and Snow modes allow the car to conquer different terrains with ease. In addition, to further enhance the off-road capabilities, MG Motor also equips this SUV with five-link integral rear suspension and rear differential lock button with BorgWarner transfer case.

As far as the comfort features are concerned, the MG Gloster will be fitted with equipment including ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto as well as iSmart connectivity technology, multi-zone climate control.

Moreover, the Gloster also will offer a host of driving assistance features including electronic parking brake, auto-hold function, Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and auto park assist and front collision warning system. On the safety front, MG Gloster will be available with ABS with EBD, airbags for all three rows, driver fatigue alert, and electronic stability management.

Under the hood, the MG Gloster will sport a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. This engine is able to churn out a maximum power of 218 Bhp and a maximum torque of 480 Nm. It is likely that MG Motor will offer only automatic gearbox for the MG Gloster. Along with this diesel engine, the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine used on the Maxus D90 is likely to make it to the India-spec MG Gloster. The premium SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 45-50 lakh.
