This MG Hector Plus now rides on a set of 18-inch aftermarket alloy wheels which are good at accentuating its overall stance.
MG has recently launched the 6-seater version of the Hector with the ‘Plus’ suffix in the country. The Hector Plus gets noticeable changes on the outside as well as on the inside. However, the carmaker decided to do with the same alloy wheels as Hector on the Hector Plus, which look a tad too boring. Also, the Hector Plus looks posher and appealing in comparison to the 5-seater Hector, and the Hector-sourced 17-inch alloy wheel units are a big letdown in terms of design. Aftermarket route, however, serves the purposes here by providing a lot of options. On the same note, here’s a Hector Plus that now sits on a set of aftermarket rims.
Talking of their size first, they measure 18 inches in diameter. These come from Plati Alloys, which is a home-grown brand. The 18-inch units are finished in chrome to go well with the Hector Plus’ bling. Furthermore, they are shod with low-profile tyres. This mod job was performed by the folks at Monga Tyres, who are based out of Ludhiana, Punjab. While the design of these rims looks quite plain but is elegant. Also, they tend to improve the overall stance of the SUV.
Talking of the MG Hector Plus, the carmaker has recently hiked the prices of the car by up to Rs. 46,000. Effective starting price now comes up as Rs. 13.74 lakh. The 6-seater SUV is offered with 2 engine options – 1.5L turbo-petrol and 2.0L turbo-diesel. The former puts out a peak power output of 143 PS and max torque of 250 Nm. Transmission options for this motor include a 6-speed MT and 6-speed DCT. Also, it gets the option of a 48V mild-hybrid system.
The 2.0L oil-burner unit, on the other hand, is capable of developing 170 PS of peak power and 350 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed MT only. The option of an automatic transmission is not available here. MG Hector Plus rivals the likes of Toyota Innova Crysta and Tata Harrier. However, its chief rival will be the upcoming Tata Gravitas, which is expected to go on sale by the end of this year.
