Mahindra Thar in its new-gen avatar has turned out to be a great product for the indigenous carmaker. Welcomed with a warm response by the Indian audience, the new-gen Thar is sold-out till May 2021. Also, those who have got their cars delivered are modifying them to make them look uber cool. Owners have been spending lakhs to customize their new-gen Thar to make them stand out of the crowd. Here’s one such example that we came across via YouTube channel of Turbo Extreme, which gets modifications worth Rs. 5.00 lakh. Well, this is an insane amount of money to spend on a car that comes loaded to the gills.

The owner of this new Mahindra Thar has spent a huge chunk of money for aftermarket alloy wheels. The factory-spec 18-inch rims are replaced with flashy 22-inch units that are shod with low-profile tyres. Moreover, it gets a host of OEM accessories, such as headlamp cladding, side cladding and more. Another important tuning job performed on this Thar is on the inside.

Its interior now dons a brown theme with custom finished door panels, quilted roof liners, custom seat covers and more. The steering wheel is wrapped in a brown shade of leather. Interestingly, the designer has used suede-finish for the parts that occupants would sit on, whereas leather is used for the remaining part. It has been done to ensure a sweat-free experience in summers. Also, the seat belts are replaced with brown-coloured units.

The new-gen Thar is on sale with a 2.0L mStallion turbo-petrol motor and a 2.2L mHawk turbo-diesel engine. The petrol motor can put out a rated power output of 150 Hp and max torque of 320 Nm. The diesel engine, however, belts out 130 Hp and 300 Nm. Both of these engines can be had mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed automatic transmission. The Thar comes standard with a 4x4 drivetrain that uses a BorgWarner transfer case with low-range gearbox and mechanically-locking rear differential. The Mahindra Thar starts at Rs. 11.90 and goes up to Rs. 13.75 lakh.
