The Nissan Magnite's build quality has come under scrutiny due to its aggressive price tag. Today we came across this accident which proves how safe it is and why ASEAN NCAP gave it a 4-star crash test rating.

The Nissan Magnite is one of the latest entrants in the Indian subcompact SUV market. Launched in December 2020, the Magnite is one of the most affordable options in its segment and is currently the highest-selling vehicle of the Japanese automaker in the country. One of the questions arising due to the Magnite’s low starting price was its build quality, with consumers being sceptical even after the vehicle scored a 4-star crash-test safety rating at ASEAN NCAP. Today we came across this accident of a Magnite which shows off the build quality and safety of the vehicle.

High Speed Crash Between Nissan Magnite And Tata Zest, Shows Off 4-Star Safety Rating Of Both Vehicles

The pictures have been uploaded by India Sonic on Instagram. As you can see, the Nissan Magnite had an accident with a Tata Zest at high speed, with both vehicles suffering heavy damages. The post mentions that the driver of the Zest was in an inebriated state, which led to him losing control of the vehicle and rammed it into the Nissan Magnite. Fortunately, the Magnite’s driver managed to avoid the collision head-on, hitting the vehicles on their right-side instead.

Though the doors and rear fenders of the Nissan Magnite were completely crumpled, the structure did its job of absorbing the energy and stopped it from getting transferred to the cabin. The airbags were deployed instantly as well, further saving the occupants inside. However, the severity of the accident can be judged by looking at the rear axle. The rear wheel of the SUV got completely detached from the hub assembly due to the impact from the Zest’s front end.

The Nissan Magnite is offered with a pretty long list of safety features as standard across the range. This includes dual-front airbags, front seat belt alarm, high-speed alert, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear window defogger, rear parking sensors and more. In the higher trims, however, you get the option of a 360-degree parking camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, vehicle dynamic control, hill start assist, traction control and more.
