While the SUV segment is currently in the spotlight of the automotive industry, the premium hatchback segment, even though less busy, is still one of the most important segments in the market. Carmakers, while less frequently, continue to introduce new models in this segment every now and then. Last year, Tata Motors has launched the Altroz, which is now competing in the premium hatchback segment. At launch, the new hatchback from Tata Motors has captured the attention of customers in the market owing to its fresh and good-looking design, along with other factors. However, what if Tata Motors decided to introduce a cross-coupe version of this hatchback? To answer this question, a fan has created the digitally-rendered iteration of the Tata Altroz with a sportier, coupe-ish design.

Tata Altroz Cross Coupe gets a different silhouette over the regular Altroz

This rendering version is designed by Praveen C. John. To create a sporty look for the original Tata Altroz, the designer has added various details and revised some parts of the exterior. To start with, on the front end, the original grille design was replaced by a new unit that looks similar to that of the Safari. Underneath, the bumper is comprehensively revised. The air dam gets wider. A scuff plate that is not available on the original design is also added. In addition, changes are made for the headlights as well. The black-piano applique that sits under the grille and headlights is now muted and replaced by the body-coloured finish.

For the side profile, one of the highlight updates is the new set of blacked-out multi-spoke wheels. These replace the diamond-cut alloy wheels used on the original Altroz. However, it is not the most significant change for the side profile. In fact, the rendering version features a different silhouette. Compared to the regular Altroz, this sporty version gets an increased ground clearance. Moreover, it also receives the coupe-ish sloping roofline, which has completely altered the looks of the Tata Altroz. Moreover, there is also a black cladding that runs across the sides.

Even though the rendering version looks even better than expected, it is still out of the question that Tata Motors will introduce such a model anytime soon. However, it is currently reported that Tata is working on the sedan version of the Altroz.

It is unlikely that Tata will launch a sportier version of the Tata Altroz hatchback

At the moment, Tata Altroz is available with three engine options including a 1.2-litre N.A petrol unit and 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The power outputs of these engines are rated at 86 PS/113 Nm, 110 PS/140 Nm, and 90 PS/200 Nm, respectively. A 5-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard. It is expected that the 7-speed DCT gearbox will be introduced later.
