Tata Nexon manages to save all of its occupants while a speeding truck hits it from the back. Read more about the incident here.
The Tata Nexon is a very good pick if you’re looking for something in the sub-4m compact-SUV segment which is a bit uncommon. The Nexon comes with all the up-to-date features and creature comforts, a spacious cabin with great fit and finish, multiple engine options, class-leading safety features and rating, and competitive prices. Tata’s compact-SUV also received a mid-life facelift in 2020 which came with a completely redesigned front-end and added even more features. Consumers liked the new design and reacted positively to it, and in 2020 the Nexon posted its best-ever sales figures. Today we came across this video of a Nexon which had a high-speed accident and kept all the occupants safe.
The video has been uploaded by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel, in which we can see this 2020 Tata Nexon’s state after an accident. A heavily loaded truck running at high speed crashed into the rear of the Nexon first and comes to rest after crashing into nearby shops. The whole rear-end of the Nexon has been crumpled completely, but it does its job very well by soaking up most of the accident’s forces. The compact-SUV's body ahead of the C-pillar remains largely intact, with minor damage on the left rear door and front fender. This accident shows that sometimes mishaps aren’t the driver’s fault, and why a safe and sturdy vehicle can sometimes save your life. The Nexon is currently one of the safest cars you can buy in India for under Rs 15 lakh. In fact, it was the first Indian vehicle to score the full 5-star crash test safety rating in adult protection from Global NCAP.
The Tata Nexon is available in two engine options, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol which churns out peak figures of 120 PS/170 Nm, or a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel which makes 110 PS/260 Nm of max figures. Both engines can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT. Prices for the new facelifted model starts from Rs 7 lakh, with the top trim coming in at Rs 12.79 lakh. Do note all prices are ex-showroom.
