The Toyota Fortuner is one of India's most beloved and best selling SUV's over Rs 30 Lakh. But the big 7-seater can be cumbersome sometimes, which is why this three-door render may pique your interest.

Ever since it first entered the Indian market in 2009, the Toyota Fortuner has dominated the Rs 30 – 40 lakh SUV segment. In its over a decade of being on sale, it has become the no-brainer choice in its respective category and sales remain consistently high. Owners love Toyota’s bulletproof reliability, domineering road presence, feature-loaded variants, and powerful engine choices. The Japanese automaker launched the second-generation Fortuner was launched in 2016 which came with an all-new design and features. And just a couple of months ago, the Fortuner received a mid-life update which refreshed the exteriors, added a new Legender variant, and even more features to keep it up-to-date.  But there’s no denying that the Fortuner is a fairly large vehicle, especially in urban conditions.  Today we came across this render of a three-door version which may be better suited for the city crawl.

This Toyota Fortuner Three-Door Render May Be Better Than The Regular Model

This Toyota Fortuner three-door render has been uploaded by low5100w on Instagram. The exterior design remains similar to the five-door model, with the omission of the rear doors and a shorter body length. Due to the difference in length, this Fortuner three-door will also sit on a shorter wheelbase though probably will be underpinned by the same ladder-frame chassis. The lack of a set of second B-pillars for rear doors also gives the rear side profile a cleaner and more attractive design, with the kink on the rear window line more prominently visible. The render remains largely stock overall, without any body kits or spoilers added. This render raises an intriguing question though, would you like to see a three-door Fortuner available for sale in the future?

Prices for the updated Toyota Fortuner range from Rs 29.98 lakh for the base rear-wheel-drive petrol and goes up to Rs 37.58 lakh for the new Fortuner Legender variant. Do note all prices are ex-showroom. Powertrain choices include both petrol and diesel options. The petrol is a 2.7-litre N/A 4-pot engine which makes 165 PS/245 Nm of peak power and torque. The oil-burner is a 2.8-litre turbocharged unit that churns out max power and torque figures of 203 PS and 500 Nm. Transmission options include a 5 or 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The petrol versions are available in rear-wheel-drive variants only. The Fortuner also comes with a rear locking differential and a low-range transfer case for the 4x4 variants which makes it a very capable off-roader.
