Upcoming Mercedes Cars At Auto Expo 2020

Daimler is gearing for a batch of new products on display at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020. Three all-new cars coming up to the auto show are the Mercedes-AMG A35 sedan, Mercedes-AMG GT 63S and 2020 Mercedes GLA, along with a Volocopter flying taxi. Here is our list of Mercedes cars at Auto Expo 2020 that will leave you breathless.

1. Mercedes-AMG A35 sedan

The Mercedes-AMG A35 sedan will be one of the cars at the Auto Expo 2020. Basically, the AMG A35 sedan is the A35 affixed with a boot. It comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 305 PS of max power and 400 Nm of torque, powerful enough to drive the sedan from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds. Its electronically-limited top speed is at 250 km/h.

The Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan comes with some AMG-specific design changes from outside to inside. The radiator front grille, front & rear bumper, air deflector, etc. boast of visual changes. The AMG-specific cues are also made for the MBUX multimedia system, seats, centre console and steering wheel, all the ways to differentiate the new car from the regular Mercedes A-Class sedan model.

2. 2020 Mercedes GLA

As you might know, the GLA has been one of the best-selling cars from the German auto marque in India. This year, the GLA is set to come back in an all-new avatar at the Auto Expo 2020. The smallest car in the company’s GL lineup will appear with all-new exterior and interior along with major updates under the bodywork.

Exterior wise, the 2020 Mercedes GLA sees a great inspiration from the new-gen A-Class hatchback, which comes in the form of the bolder look, revised headlamps and air intakes, rounded grille along with slimmer taillamps and squared-off wheel arches. On the inside, there’s a big rectangular full TFT screen for the infotainment system and instrument panel, turbine-styled round air vents together with a new dashboard layout.

The all-new Mercedes GLA is powered by three turbocharged engines including a 163 PS/250 Nm petrol, 224 PS/350 Nm 2.0-litre petrol along with a 150 PS/320 Nm 2.0-litre diesel unit. A 7-speed DCT is available for the 1.3-litre petrol version while the other engines come mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

3. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S

Next up in the list of upcoming Mercedes cars in India 2020 is the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S. Being a four-door performance-spec coupe, the Mercedes-AMG G63 S comes off as the most powerful four-door offering of the company. The car offers an aggressive look with some exterior features like a radiator front grille with vertical slats, large air intakes, frameless doors, dynamic turn indicators, sleek LED taillights, multi-stage rear spoiler and more. The cabin of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S gets a good mix of luxury and sportiness with AMG performance seats, premium Nappa leather upholstery, 12.3-inch full TFT screen for instrument console, etc. as the highlighting features.

The AMG GT 63 S is propelled by a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo petrol engine that is connected with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The mill comes to produce a massive power of 645 PS and a whopping 900 Nm of torque, thereby giving the car a capability to rocket from 0 -100 kmph in 3.2 seconds before achieving the top speed of 314 kmph. AMG locking differential with air suspension and rear-axle steering are some other AMG-specific mechanical package of the high-performance coupe.

4. Volocopter

Lastly, we’re not talking about a four-wheeled Mercedes car but an urban flying taxi by Daimler. The Volocopter was first introduced to the world’s enthusiasts at the International Motor Show in 2017, previewing the futuristic urban mobility solution. Volocopter is developed by a German-based startup company named Volocopter and receives Daimler’s investment for series production. Daimler has confirmed to bring a Volocopter concept model to the week-long biennial auto event in Delhi.

The Volocopter on display at the India Expo Mart will probably be the VoloCity – an 18 rotor passenger drone that is capable of carrying two passengers at a time while getting up to the speed of around 110 kmph. It is powered by nine different Lithium-ion batteries that take about 120 minutes to get fully charged. Though flying cars seem to be a distant dream, the pure-electric flying urban helicopter taxi is almost here!

Apart from the aforementioned vehicles, Daimler will also introduce the many other models like the all-new GLE, G63, C43 Coupe, MC-certified Mercedes C-Class, Mercedes-Mayback among others for future development. The world-renowned company will also showcase the details of new digital innovations such as a new e-commerce platform for selling Mercedes cars as well as the Mercedes-Benz User Experience tech.
