Some pictures uploaded by a Mumbai resident show how the airbags of his Volkswagen Polo got deployed after the car encountered a deep pothole.

Driving on the Indian roads is often a big challenge for every motorist of our country. The number of disciplined drivers in India is quite low and things like ill-planned speed breakers, broken roads and stray cattle make the conditions much worse for the road users. But, the biggest obstacles on Indian roads are potholes. They are the biggest culprits for creating jams by slowing down the traffic on our streets. We have recently come across some images that clearly show the damage done by a pothole to a Volkswagen Polo. Dezlan Chhoi, a Mumbai resident who was driving his Polo on the highway near Wadala suddenly encountered a huge pothole, which, interestingly, caused the driver and passenger airbags of his Polo to get got deployed.

Dezlan claims that he was driving at a speed of 20-30 kmph and was not able to see the pothole. During monsoon, the potholes become quite dangerous for the motorists because they cover themselves with water, which makes it tough for the driver to gauge their depth. So, one should always slow down on noticing stagnant water on roads. Dezlan said that he has to pay Rs 2 lakh for the total damage happened to his car. It may be noted that the Volkswagen Polo is among the most trusted hatchbacks sold in our country and the car is quite popular for its strong and sturdy build quality.

Dezlan said that the rear tyre of his car went into the pothole which was almost 14-15 inches deep. Along with the deployment of airbags, the rear bumper of his car has also been damaged. The video also shows other motorists struggling to go through the same stretch of broken road.

So, basically, in monsoon season, always try to drive slowly through the potholes because negligence can severely damage your vehicle.
